Hendrix to Jamie Cullum

The Wind Cries Mary

...an amazing song that is my latest addiction. Heard the Jamie Cullum version in a friend's suv on the first short-sleeve day of the year in Philadelphia, which if I'm not mistaken, was Friday afternoon. Drove to Rittenhouse listening to his piano saturated song, and fell in love with the melody. It made my car ride more intimate, the person to my left more genuine, and the breakfast I would've never cooked if not in my delicate "I'm a happy person and not some jaded bitch" condition I barely ever and rarely never get in, more delicious.
Runny eggs with a hint of provolone and some salt and ketchup, dipped in toast, of course.

Jimi Hendrix was the creator of the original version. It's been said he got into an argument with his then girlfriend, Kathy 'Mary' Etchingham, about her cooking sending her straight out the door to a friend's place. Hendrix apparently wrote this song for her. What a guy.

Jamie Cullum covered it with a jazzy piano that sounds really inspiring, but the kid looks a little odd/ugly in the video, and for me, that makes it lose some of his credibility. But seriously, how can anyone outdo Jimi?

Here are two videos from each artist. Enjoy.
